In July of 2021, the State of New Jersey passed a law, P.L.2021, Ch.183, which falls under the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The law requires the Township of Stafford to inventory private water services to identify all service line materials within the water system. Since that time, the Township has inventoried all private water lines that have records on file with the Township or through physical visual inspection when water utility work occurs.

Please verify the private water service material extending from the street curb stop into the structure at your property and complete the form below.

STEP 1 – Locate the Water Service Line
Locate the water service line that connect to the building, possibly in the crawl space. You need to see the pipe where it comes through the ground or foundation.

STEP 2 – Identify the Pipe Material

A Magnet Test can be preformed: Magnets will attract to Galvanized Steel, not to Lead.
